The Ponte de Lima City Council will invest more than €416,000 in the acquisition of around 4,500 containers to improve waste management in the municipality, it was announced yesterday.

The “project was approved as part of an application to Norte2030 and includes the acquisition of containerization equipment, integrating into a set of actions aimed at improving waste management in the municipality.”
In total, the municipality notes, around 4,500 containers of various types will be purchased, namely access-controlled containers for selective collection of food biowaste in the domestic sector, containers for selective collection of food biowaste in the non-domestic sector, domestic and community composters, containers for green waste, oil drums, containers for waste from batteries and accumulators, and containers for construction and demolition waste from small repair and DIY works.
