Solenerge Applications Reopen to Boost Renewable Energy in the Azores

January 16, 2026

Applications to the Solenerge program for the installation of solar photovoltaic systems for self-consumption in the Azores reopened today, allowing the resumption of submitting new incentive requests under this “central instrument in the promotion of renewable energy”.

According to the Azorean government, applications run until February 28, with Solenerge having a global budget limit of 60 million euros and aiming to reach a target of 38.2 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

Solenerge falls under Investment C14-i03-RAA – Energy Transition in the Azores, of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), and covers 100% of eligible expenses for the acquisition and installation of photovoltaic systems, up to a limit of 1,500 euros per kilowatt installed.

It is aimed at individuals and legal entities, with the exception of the regional administration and the direct administration of the State.

The program currently has “an estimated approved incentive value of 45 million euros”, so “the reopening of applications is necessary to ensure the fulfilment of the goals defined and agreed with the European Commission”, emphasises the government in a statement.

The Azorean government stresses the importance of the contributions of beneficiaries and installing entities to guarantee speed and effectiveness in the execution of the program, in order to reach the global target of 38.2 MW and to consolidate Solenerge as “a central instrument in promoting renewable energies and reducing the region’s energy dependence”.

Applications must be submitted at https://solenerge.azores.gov.pt.
