Growth Plant Pot Inspired by Japanese Origami

January 17, 2026

“Growth” is an innovative plant pot inspired by the Japanese art of origami and has the ability to follow the plant’s growth, adapting to its space needs.

The container was created by the Ayaskan design studio, based in London, and aims to make plant pots more sustainable objects – by adapting to the size of the plant, there is no need to buy a larger pot, thereby saving resources.

“In nature, everything evolves, everything adapts, grows, blooms, degrades, dies, is absorbed and reused,” say the project’s mentors, Bike and Begum Ayaskan. “The modern approach is the opposite: objects are produced, used, and discarded. Growth, however, inspired by the origami pattern, imitates nature’s ability to grow and transform over time, avoiding waste,” the designers add.
