SEA LIFE Porto Carnival Challenges Families to Create Marine-Inspired Masks

February 5, 2026

The SEA LIFE Porto Carnival will put to the test the creativity of both young and old through the creative workshop “Marine Masks,” led by Rita Faustino, the artist behind the Josefina Workshop. In this activity, families are invited to collaboratively build a unique Carnival mask of their favorite animal to play with inside and outside the aquarium, as announced in a press release.

And, according to the same source, there is no shortage of inspiration for this artwork, created using dry pastels, oil pastels and plenty of imagination: from Douro, the first Humboldt penguin chick born at SEA LIFE Porto, to the mysterious zebra sharks, passing by the charismatic turtle Marisa, the fun clownfish, and the exuberant lionfish.

The artistic workshop will be available from February 14 to 17, between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. After they create their Carnival mask, families will be able to explore the aquarium and meet, for example, the renovated Penguin’s Port, now with even more inhabitants. In the Kingdom of Salácia, it is also possible to observe the recently arrived zebra shark, and at the end, the fun is guaranteed in the new indoor playground, inspired by the lighthouses of the Portuguese coast.

Visits to SEA LIFE Porto are available Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 19:00, with the last entry taking place 45 minutes before closing time.
